Glass Bead Peening
Glass bead peening is an effective way of increasing the fatigue properties of metal parts and resistance to stress corrosion cracking. The Micro-Blast beads are hard and lightweight thus producing a high magnitude layer of residual compressive stress while leaving a smooth surface finish. Micro-Blast beads are a non-ferrous media and are readily used to peen non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and stainless steel. The beads are chemically inert, recyclable and environmentally friendly.
Glass Bead Blasting
Deburring, cleaning, surface preparation, texturizing and finishing are also achieved through glass bead blasting. Metal surfaces often need to be cleaned, textured or polished for aesthetic and functional purposes. In order to keep the surfaces free from iron contamination of steel blasting media while achieving a smooth, satin finish, glass bead blasting becomes a desirable metal surface preparation technique. This technique is economical, reliable and it does not damage metal parts or their surfaces during the cleaning process. In many cases, traditional blasting media abrades the surface which does not happen with Micro-Blast beads.
